Eken är ett hårt och starkt träslag med en tydlig och markant ådring. Det är ett av de mest klassiska möbelträslagen i Europa och förekommer ofta i våra möbler. Ekens höga täthet och styrka gör den särskilt hållbar och motståndskraftig mot slitage. Ett normalt år så kommer cirka 50% av vår ek ifrån Sverige. Eken blir 100 - 120 år innan den fälls för att bli till möbler.
